EGM CIGARS

Kacper Hamilton has designed a cigar rest called HALO in collaboration with EGM CIGARS as an invitation to a new ritual to elevate one’s experience when smoking a cigar.

A ‘halo’ is typically seen as a crown composed of light rays that surround a holy or spiritual figure. It has been used in iconography spanning many religions and periods of time. It’s often representative of light itself, with the subject enshrined. Cigars, meanwhile, were often reserved for kings and priests as ceremonial instruments to tap into higher powers.

HALO is more than just a cigar rest. Created by London-based, visionary artist, Kacper Hamilton, this exceptional piece is a marvel of design and craftsmanship.

. .

Manufactured in a very limited first batch, each of the 100 pieces available is marked with a unique edition number, discreetly engraved on a recessed crescent shape on its base. HALO is an invitation to indulge in a world where every detail is crafted with passion and every moment is elevated by the touch of artistry.

At the heart of HALO’s creation is Kacper Hamilton, a visionary artist whose journey in luxury design is inspiring and groundbreaking. Known for his innovative approach and ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, Kacper’s work in the luxury market is astounding. His various collaborations with high-end brands showcase his mastery in creating objects that are not just functional but are also awe-inspiring works of art.

The HALO cigar rest, with dimensions of 58x58x11mm, is constructed from solid brass; its elegant brushed and polished finish is designed to age gracefully, developing a distinctive patina that adds character and tells a story of its own. The intricate fluted design is visually stunning and ensures that your cigar is securely rested and maintains an even burn, elevating it above the ordinary and overcrowded ashtrays.

The KH x EGM CIGARS edition of HALO is sold out. Please contact the studio for general enquiries or register your interest here for future editions.

EGM: So what exactly is HALO in your own words?

KH: I’ve smoked cigars for a long time and have always had issues when wanting to rest my lit cigar. The only options were to either sit the cigar on the edge of a table with the danger of it rolling off or burning the tablecloth or to place it in a crowded and oftentimes dirty ashtray.

It is also important to note that it is not necessary to ash a cigar often, in-fact less is better as this helps keep the cigar and flavour in optimum condition. I, therefore, wanted to create a cigar rest that would act as an invitation to a new ritual to elevate one’s experience when smoking a cigar.

I believe it’s unique in the way that it presents and frames a cigar, almost like a throne or an altar. It makes the entire experience of smoking feel more elevated and precious, creating greater reverence. It is designed so a lit cigar will sit in HALO at an optimum level without damaging the surface or tabletop beneath and it will accommodate every sized cigar. Furthermore, I always have a few accessories I carry with me when I plan to smoke, including a large 1920s crocodile skin cigar case, a 1990s Dunhill silver stripe design lighter, a cigar cutter and now I feel that HALO is the final missing piece of the puzzle. HALO is like a portable piece of functional jewellery for one’s cigar.
